Your Climbing Explained

The Climbing Stress Index (CSI) is a number from 1 - 250 based on the input from the Climbing Journal. It allows us to show a visual presentation of your climbing and how stressful each session has been, helping you take data-driven decisions about rest, session type and design.

CSI Guideline

  • 10–30: Recovery or light technical session.
  • 30–70: Moderate intensity; ideal for most training days.
  • 70–160: High intensity; includes strength, endurance, and power-focused training.
  • 160–200: Very high intensity; limit project or competition-level sessions.
  • 200–250: Max intensity; peak effort for elite-level performance.

CLIMBING SHOULD BE DATA DRIVEN!

You may be a skillful, effective climber but if you don’t trust the data, then the chances of improving and progressing your climbing effectively, are extremely limited.

As we grow, we experience both progress and setbacks, moving forward then occasionally retracing our steps. It may seem chaotic, even clownish at times, but believe in the power of the process.
